Our Story
Platinum Hydrographics was set up to be Limericks hydro dipping specialist. Our aim was to create unique and eye-catching designs for almost any need. Using our years of expertise in the car industry along with an involvement in a wide range of services like repairs and custom spray painting we are able to offer our customers the best available hydro dipping services and after care.
How it works
Item Preparation
The item must be prepared with a base coat and the base colour. This helps give that quality finish once done.
Graphic Preparation
We take the chosen design, which is on a polyvinyl alcohol film (PVA) and carefully place it onto the surface of our specialty hydro dipping tank.
Activation
We then spray over the PVA sheet with an activator. This activates the bonding agent and liquifies the PVA sheet so that we can begin the dipping process.
Dipping
The piece is then carefully lowered into the tank through the now liquid film by our dipping specialist. The ink from the design is transferred to the object completely wrapping around all angles giving that fully covered look.
Rinse and Dry
With dipping completed, we remove the item from the tank, rinse and clean any excess off the item and allow it time to dry and set. This is important as we must have the item fully dry before the next step.
Protect
After the piece has been fully dried, we can now apply a lacquer to protect the design from any damage and make sure it is long lasting and hard wearing. Then it's off for a polish to get the finish to the desired levels of gloss.
